The mission of Lost Valley Educational Center is to create and foster mutually beneficial relations between humans and all parts of the web of existence. We believe that these relationships provide a means to well-being as well as survival. In fulfilling this mission, our purpose is to create and maintain an intentional community and an educational center dedicated to three goals which guide us in all activities.
- To educate broadly in areas such as ecology, sustainable agriculture, human-made environments, personal and spiritual growth, and community development.
- To live an ethic in which we are open to spiritual diversity, demonstrate right livelihood and sustainable economics, support individuals in their personal growth and healing, and steward the land to sustain and heal the earth for generations to come.
- To participate in the global community, network with others and facilitate the evolution of cooperative societies and socially responsible relationships at every level.

Orion Grassroots Network
orionsociety.org/pages/om/index_om.html
Since 1982, Orion has worked to reconnect human culture with the natural world, and to reveal and heal the roots of our estrangement from nature. It aspires to blend scientific thinking with the arts, and to engage both the head and heart in solving humanity's problems. It works to inform and inspire, and to enhance our inner lives and well-being. It strives to make clear what we all have in common. Orion publishes the work of the writers who are shaping a new relationship with nature -- Gary Paul Nabhan, Sandra Steingraber, David Quammen, Richard Nelson, Terry Tempest Williams, Barry Lopez, Robert Michael Pyle, Thomas Moore, David James Duncan, Wendell Berry, Scott Russell Sanders, Ann Zwinger -- as well as those of many other new and emerging voices. Two of Sitka's instructors are on the board and one, Robert Michael Pyle, has a regular column.
